In Tatarstan, 15 rural post offices have been modernized since the beginning of the year.
A post office has opened in the village of Sokury in the Laishevsky District of Tatarstan after a major renovation. It became the 15th to be modernized in the republic since the beginning of the year as part of United Russia’s People’s Program, the press service of the Tatarstan regional branch of the party reports.
Work here began in the middle of the summer; during the renovation the post office moved to the local club building. By early November employees began receiving visitors again in the renovated building. The interior and façade were refurbished, the heating system was renewed, fire alarms and video surveillance were installed. For the comfort of employees and visitors a conditioner was added, as well as new furniture and modern equipment. Thanks to the presence of a ramp, a widened door opening and a staff call button, the premises are accessible to people with limited mobility and the visually impaired.
“Sokurovskoye rural settlement includes two villages — Sokury and Obukhovo. These are old villages with many elderly residents who do not know how to use online platforms to pay utility bills and so on. This is a needed social facility for our settlement — people have been waiting for the opening; everyone here uses the services of Russian Post. We are glad that the post office was renovated under a federal program. Inside it is bright, beautiful, and has all the necessary equipment,” explained the head of Sokurovskoye rural settlement, Radik Mavliev, about the importance of the post office for local residents.
The branch has one universal service window. A client can send a parcel, pay utilities or purchase consumer goods. Sales are also conducted on a self-service basis with open shelving and free access to all types of goods.
“The post office serves residents not only of the village of Sokury but also of the village of Obukhovo. In total this is more than 2,000 people. Now they can all confirm or restore an account on the public services portal. New services relevant to residents of small settlements have also begun to be provided here,” emphasized Ilnur Makhmutov, director of the UFPS “Tatarstan Pochta” of JSC “Russian Post” and member of the regional political council of the Tatarstan regional branch of United Russia.
Under United Russia’s People’s Program, post offices across the country are being updated, with particular attention paid to rural branches. Post offices in Tatarstan are also modernized annually.
According to Ilnur Makhmutov, in 2025 modernization of post offices took place in 15 rural localities of Tatarstan. They are located in the Aktanyshsky, Bavlinsky, Baltasinsky, Verkhneuslonsky, Drozhzhanovsky, Zelenodolsky, Laishevsky, Nurlatsky, Rybno-Slobodsky, Tukaevsky and Cheremshansky districts.
“Russian Post began modernizing rural branches at the instruction of President of Russia Vladimir Putin and with the support of the United Russia party in 2022. During this time, 88 post offices in Tatarstan have already been updated. The program will continue next year. In addition, repairs were carried out at the expense of the Republic of Tatarstan in another 15 rural branches. There are a total of 869 rural post offices in Tatarstan,” he clarified.
It was United Russia that proposed reconstructing the network of post offices in rural areas and expanding the functional capabilities of Russian Post. The initiative was supported by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. He instructed the Government to ensure the modernization of more than 25,000 rural post offices across the country in 2022–2025. As a result, a program was formed whose implementation is under the party’s control. Post offices are an element of social infrastructure alongside feldsher-obstetric stations (FAPs), village clubs and points of sale for essential goods.
