      Today the Kirovsky District Court of Kazan handed down a verdict in the case of the fatal tragedy on the Volga. For gross violation of the rules for operating a small vessel that resulted in the death of a passenger — Ilnaz Valeev, the administrative manager of the Ministry of Land and Property Relations of Tatarstan — the son of the former head of "Tatflot," Lenar Mukhutdinov, received a suspended sentence of 2 years and 9 months, participants in the trial told Realnoe Vremya. In its closing arguments, a representative of Tatarstan's Transport Prosecutor’s Office asked for five years in a general-regime penal colony for him, insisting that Mukhutdinov, who was driving the boat on the day of the incident, was drunk.       Recall that on September 21, 2024, a cabin-type motorboat crashed into the berth of the outermost pier of the "Venezia" yacht club in Kazan’s Arakchino and capsized. The cabin began to fill with water. Four people swam out through a narrow window; they dived for the fifth but could not get into the cabin, which was already full of water. The fifth was Ilnaz Valeev, the administrative manager of the Ministry of Land and Property Relations of Tatarstan and the son of the former head of Rybnaya Sloboda. He was 37. The son of the former head of "Tatflot" was accused of his death as a result of negligent maneuvers on the water while intoxicated.

      Mukhutdinov admitted to everything in the investigation and in court except for drinking alcohol before and while operating the watercraft. No record of a medical examination or of a refusal to undergo one was drawn up in relation to this operator. According to sources at Realnoe Vremya, after the boat flooded and attempts to retrieve the passenger from the cabin failed, Lenar Mukhutdinov left the scene of the incident and within a few hours flew to Dubai, where his wife and children were vacationing at the time. However, the deputy did not stay abroad — he received information that it would be better to return voluntarily, and within a day appeared for questioning. Naturally, sober.
