The investigation into the criminal case concerning the mass poisoning of children at the Kazan health and educational complex "Duslyk" has been completed. The former administrator of the complex will stand trial on charges of violating sanitary and epidemiological regulations, the Investigative Committee of Tatarstan reports.
"All case materials with the approved indictment have already been sent to court for substantive consideration," the agency added.
Recall that in January students, accompanied by adult chaperones, arrived at the "Duslyk" complex to participate in the final stage of the republican chemistry olympiad. After visiting the food block some of them fell ill. It was an acute intestinal and norovirus infection. The contagion quickly spread and sickened 38 children and adults.
According to the investigation, the mass poisoning occurred because the complex administrator allowed a number of violations of sanitary and epidemiological rules. For example, she did not suspend an employee who showed signs of infection and allowed a man to work in the food block without the necessary medical documents. In addition, when the norovirus began to spread, the woman did not exclude those who had fallen ill from participating in the olympiad. This contributed to others contracting the infection.
