The first principal of Experimental School No. 35, Zakirova, has passed away.

      In Naberezhnye Chelny, Rosa Zakirova, an Honored Teacher of the TASSR and the director of the USSR’s first experimental secondary school No. 35, has died in her 87th year. Rosa Akhatovna will be buried in the city cemetery.

      Rosa Zakirova was born in the village of Nau in the Leninabad region of the Tajik SSR. After graduating from Kazan University, she taught Russian language and literature in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. In 1971 she was appointed director of the first newly built School No. 13 in Novy Gorod (New City). At that time the number of students there was three thousand, and the school operated in three shifts.

      Afterward Rosa Zakirova headed the USSR’s first experimental School No. 35 — with a TV studio, a swimming pool and workshops. The school, designed for 2,350 students, opened on September 1, 1980. The building contained four educational blocks — two for younger pupils and two for older pupils. A total of 60 classes could be accommodated. The institution featured a large swimming pool, a sports hall that could be divided by partitions into three full-fledged rooms, and a reading room of 350 square meters. The drawing and drafting rooms were equipped with overhead zenithal dome lighting, and each contained a television. There was a TV studio and an observatory. In 2022 the director of School No. 35 became its alumnus Alexander Almeneev. Rosa Zakirova was enjoying a well-deserved retirement.

      She was awarded the Order of the October Revolution and the Order of the Badge of Honor.
