      Sixty-six sets of modern hockey equipment were gifted to the pupils and coaches of Kazan’s youth hockey clubs. The sports gear — awarded for high sporting results and active participation in significant competitions — was presented by the executive director of the children's hockey league "Golden Puck," Konstantin Margolf, and the CEO of PJSC Tatneft, president of the Hockey Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan and HC Ak Bars, Nail Maganov. Certificates for the equipment were given to the director of the municipal budgetary institution "Podrostok," Ekaterina Sogrina, and to youth work specialist Yazgar Zakiev at a ceremony honoring the "Ak Bars"-2011 hockey team.

      The pupils and their coaches received the necessary kit to take to the ice: helmets, skates, chest protectors, elbow pads, shin guards, gloves, protective cups, neck guards, equipment bags and sticks. The new equipment is intended both for intensive regular training sessions and for confident performances at city and republic-level competitions.

      "Statistics on the number of teams that Tatarstan registers for the All-Russian 'Golden Puck' tournament have been growing for five years. This year we already have 139 teams, and I expect that by the end of the registration campaign there will be about 150. This clearly shows that good conditions are being created and new hockey rinks will appear in Kazan. I hope that some of the Kazan kids will be able to make it to the final, which will be held in Nizhny Novgorod in May. It is very important that the mayor himself plays hockey. That means he personally understands what kind of support children need: in what volume, from what age and in what format. Leaders like that shape Russia’s future by raising children from ages 5–6 up to 18," said Konstantin Margolf, executive director of the children's hockey league "Golden Puck."

      "We are glad that today not only clubs but the youth teams themselves receive support such as the transfer of new hockey equipment. This will give more kids the opportunity to start playing hockey right in the yard. We are systematically developing yard hockey teams: in addition to participating in 'Golden Puck' tournaments, we hold internal competitions, and each season we meet to discuss how to improve these initiatives and reach even more children. We are convinced that it is in yard hockey that the foundation for future world-class stars is laid," noted Ekaterina Sogrina.

      As a reminder, 660 young players practice hockey in Kazan's youth clubs under the guidance of 12 coaches. Training sessions take place on 83 outdoor rinks and six ice arenas in the city. Future champions can continue their professional path at five municipal sports schools: "Dynamo," "Volna," "Strela," "Ak Bure" and "Aviator."
