Ilsur Metshin: "Investors' interest in Tatarstan's capital is strong"

      Kazan ranked first among cities with over one million residents in terms of attracted investment

Despite the decline, the capital of Tatarstan remains the leader among cities with over one million residents in terms of investment volume from large and medium-sized enterprises. Thus, the contribution to fixed capital from large and medium-sized enterprises is estimated at 145 billion, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee Ildar Shakirov noted during a staff meeting.

      “Undoubtedly, no one is inclined to embellish reality. We see a decline in investments, but nevertheless investor interest in the capital of Tatarstan is strong. This is demonstrated by 180 billion rubles of investments in fixed capital for the first half of the year. As Ildar Salikhzyanovich noted in his report, by this indicator Kazan leads among cities with over one million inhabitants. There are completed investment projects. The Investment Council under the leadership of our ra'is Rustam Minnikhanov is working actively. For Kazan alone, seven large investment projects have been approved,” said the city head Ilsur Metshin.

      At the Investment Council chaired by the Head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, several large-scale initiatives were approved. Among them is the project to create the industrial park “Northern Gates” with an investment volume of over 105 billion rubles, which will become a major industrial site comparable to the “Himgrad” technopolis. Another strategic project is the industrial technopark “Scientific and Production Center for Unmanned Aerial Systems,” where 1.65 billion rubles are planned to be attracted.

      Significant investment projects also include a multifunctional complex at the Kirov Dam costing 7.2 billion rubles and the construction of a crematorium with investments of 360 million rubles.

      As the speaker noted, among the already completed or ongoing projects are the gastronomic complex “Kait” on the Kremlin Embankment (1.1 billion rubles), a machining and vocational training center based at KVZ with a capacity of up to 3.5 thousand people per year, and the renovated Moskovsky Market (1.5 billion rubles). A new business venue opened in the city — the trade complex “Megastil” on Gorky Highway, housing more than 750 retail outlets on an area of over 16 thousand sq. m.

      Among promising directions is the launch of a technopark project for industrial applied genetics in animal husbandry “GenBioTech” in the village of Yudino, which envisages investments of 1.25 billion rubles.

      It is worth noting that Kazan took the leading position in the ranking of cities with over one million residents by investment attracted.

      Earlier it was reported that at the XIV meeting of the State Council the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov delivered his annual address. During his speech, the Head of Tatarstan announced key projects for 2026. In Kazan, the opening of the first AAOIFI representative center in Russia for Islamic finance, the construction of a new terminal at the city airport, and the restoration of the Kazan Bogoroditsky Monastery are planned. Significant investments in the modernization of housing and communal infrastructure and road construction are also planned.
