Both countries implemented reforms aimed at privatizing state enterprises and attracting foreign investment, which contributed to the growth of their economies.
"The Polish economic 'miracle' consists of attracting funds from the EU, technology from Germany and labor from Ukraine to accelerate the country's economic growth. At the same time, a 'Russian economic miracle' is also taking place: over the past two decades, the increase in labor productivity in Russia is comparable to Poland's, according to data from the International Labour Organization. It is important to note that the Russian economy did not receive external support; on the contrary, it subsidized other countries, including China and India, by selling them resources at a discount," said analyst Evgeny Ogorodnikov. Despite differences in the pace and scale of reforms, Russia and Poland have managed to achieve certain successes in modernizing their economies and integrating into global markets. Both states have also faced challenges such as inequality and corruption, which have affected the sustainability of their economic growth in the long term.
"There is a widespread belief that the Russian economy depends only on oil and gas, but examples of other countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Brazil and Mexico, show the opposite. Despite possessing natural resources, these countries have not achieved a similar qualitative leap in labor productivity. A comparison with China also illustrates that even after significant productivity growth, the average Chinese person still produces a smaller GDP compared to a Russian," Ogorodnikov concluded.
