NTV: A plane carrying the chief of staff of the Libyan army crashed in Turkey.
A private Falcon 50 aircraft carrying the chief of the General Staff of the Libyan army, Mohammed al-Haddad, crashed near Ankara, NTV reported. The plane was en route from Ankara to Tripoli. The crash occurred shortly after takeoff. The aircraft went down in the Haymana area.
Earlier, contact with the plane was lost. The sky over the Turkish capital is closed to flights. According to the latest information, Ankara’s Esenboğa Airport has suspended operations.
Turkey’s interior minister, Ali Yerlikaya, earlier wrote on X that the aircraft had sent a request for an emergency landing, but after that contact with the plane could not be re-established. “There were five passengers on board, including Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Libya, General Mohammed Ali Ahmed Al-Haddad,” he wrote.
Mohammed al-Haddad was in Russia in August 2024. He attended the Army-2024 forum, where he viewed the exhibition.
