At the final pre-New Year press conference, the head of the Nizhnekamsk District, Radmir Belyaev, spoke about preparations for the celebration of the city's 60th anniversary. According to him, a large block of ceremonial events is planned for that date, with special attention in the program paid to veteran first-builders — those who originally came to build the city practically "on a blank field," in difficult climatic and living conditions.
“We are now forming the schedule of events. First of all, there will be a large number of events related to honoring our first-builders. We are happy people to have the opportunity even today to talk with those people who actually came here by train,” Belyaev said.
The anniversary celebration is planned to be held in late August or early September.
In addition, Radmir Belyaev announced plans to renovate Maidan Square, which will become one of the main venues for the anniversary events. A number of repair and construction projects are also planned to be completed by that date.
A large-scale festive program is being prepared jointly with major enterprises, which will include the city festival “Kama-Kama.”
“The festival will attract tourists from across the country and from abroad. Similar to how we once did the Mendeleev ‘Race of Heroes,’” the district head said.
The anniversary program is also planned to include a triathlon and a rock music festival. The team behind the “Nashestvie” festival is expected to be involved in organizing the rock festival.
