A New Year's performance for children with disabilities took place in Kazan.

      A New Year’s performance for children with disabilities was held at the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of Tatarstan. The event was attended by Tanzilya Rakova, Executive Secretary of the Kazan local branch of the United Russia party and a deputy of the Kazan City Duma.

      The organizers prepared theatrical performances and workshops, as well as gifts and treats. The children were greeted and entertained by fairy-tale characters.

      “This day is not just a celebration; it is an expression of our care, our respect, and our support. The Kazan leadership and public organizations continue to work on creating comfortable conditions for the development and full life of children with disabilities,” Tanzilya Rakova shared.

      She noted that the event is aimed not only at entertainment but also at drawing public attention to issues of social integration and support for children with disabilities.

      “It is precisely through the joint work of the state, public organizations, and the active stance of residents that an environment is created in which every child, regardless of their physical characteristics, feels supported,” Tanzilya Rakova emphasized.

      Ruslan Sakhabutdinov, head of the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the Republic of Tatarstan, gave a tour of the center. He said that its primary activities include comprehensive rehabilitation, accompaniment, and support of citizens with disabilities, including veterans and participants of the special military operation who lost their health in the line of duty.

      The center operates a creative workshop where children with disabilities make scented candles. Also presented was a woodwork workshop, where wheelchair user Alexander demonstrated the equipment and items he had made by hand: phone stands, household items, and souvenirs.

      The center includes a driving school that runs a professional retraining program for persons disabled in the special military operation who have lost limbs, training them to operate specialized vehicles. In addition, a separate office has been equipped in the building for effective handling of citizens’ inquiries and providing support to persons with disabilities.

      “As part of the New Year’s events we managed to congratulate about one hundred children, giving them joy and New Year’s gifts. Such an emotional boost inspires us in our further work and gives us the strength to move forward,” Ruslan Sakhabutdinov shared.

      Today more than 400 children with disabilities actively participate in the life of the committee, taking part in events and classes. In addition, the organization runs classes for professional retraining, which allow participants to acquire new skills and expand their opportunities for self-realization and independent living.

      “Much has been achieved during our work: numerous projects have been implemented, a comfortable environment has been created, and a variety of support programs have been established. But new horizons await us — ambitious plans are scheduled for next year to expand activities, improve conditions, and increase the number of participants,” he said.
