A New Year's miracle in the barn: a hen surprised its owner on New Year's Eve.
55-year-old Rafis Kadyrov returned from a business trip and discovered six chicks under the broody hen
In the pre-New Year hustle, while everyone is rushing for gifts and groceries, the most touching miracle happened in Rafis Kadyrov’s quiet village house. The owner had spent three days on a work trip, returned tired and, out of habit, immediately went to the shed to feed the birds.
“I came home from work, went to feed the chickens. I see—one is sitting on the floor, motionless. The shed was dim, I went for a sack, thought the hen had died and needed to carry her out of the shed,” Rafis shares.
Imagine his surprise when, lifting the bird, he saw six little yellow fluffy bundles roll out from under her, and the hen herself was alive. The chicks, just hatched, were warming themselves under their mother's wing right on the cold floor. Interestingly, the owner didn’t even notice the hen settling on the eggs. She had done all that responsible work—incubating—secretly, in a secluded corner of the dim shed. Without delay, the man carefully gathered the chicks and carried the hen into the house, where he made a cozy pen for them out of wire mesh. Now their menu is soaked millet, and the main concern is to keep the New Year's additions from catching a chill.
But the most surprising thing in this story is not even the sudden appearance of offspring, but the "mother's" age. The hen herself hatched from an egg only in August this year.
The new occupants also drew the attention of the master of the house—the cat. He approached the pen, sniffed it from all sides and looked at the squeaking tots with undisguised amazement, as if asking, “And where did you come from here?”
