      Holding a competition to create toys in the traditional men’s and women’s costumes of the peoples of the USSR on the eve of the 105th anniversary of the Union’s founding in 2027 could help preserve historical memory. This opinion was expressed by State Duma deputy Nikolai Novichkov, his words are quoted by TASS. He proposed organizing in 2026 a competition to develop 15 pairs of toys representing the costumes of the peoples of the union republics. At the same time, he said, it would be appropriate to create a collection of 105 pairs of toys in the national costumes of the peoples of Russia. Novichkov said that after the New Year holidays he plans to send the initiative to the Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov. In his view, the relevant ministry could announce an open creative competition involving artists and designers, and the selection of samples should be carried out taking into account the opinions of citizens from different regions of the country. The deputy reminded that 2026 has been declared the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. The parliamentarian also expressed hope that similar projects could be implemented in the former union republics, with most of which Russia maintains partner relations. He noted that if the samples are determined in 2026, mass production and sale of the toys could begin as early as 2027 — both in Russia and abroad.
