Serbia will maintain military neutrality — Aleksandar Vulin
Aleksandar Vulin on the challenges to Serbia's military neutrality
Former deputy prime minister and former defense minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vulin said that the country's military neutrality cannot be revised by the decision of individual politicians. According to him, this principle is enshrined in the National Defense Strategy and is a matter not for individual politicians but for the entire parliament and the nation. "The National Defense Strategy clearly states that Serbia is a militarily neutral state. This is no longer a question that some politician can decide. It is a question for the parliament, it is a question for the nation. Therefore, military neutrality remains Serbia's permanent political choice. For this to change, a great many things would have to change," Aleksandar Vulin said in an interview with TASS. The former minister emphasized that military neutrality allows Serbia not to participate in armed conflicts and not to join military blocs. He also pointed out that Belgrade does not want to wage wars that are not in the country's interests, and does not intend to fight against "brothers." Aleksandar Vulin noted that the policy of military neutrality faces serious external challenges. He pointed to the formation of a military alliance that includes Slovenia, Croatia, Albania and Kosovo, and believes that its aim is to surround Serbia. In addition, the ex-deputy prime minister drew attention to the militarization of Kosovo with the support of the United States and Turkey.
