      A rescue operation was carried out in the Vysokogorsky District of Tatarstan to save a severely injured skier. The incident occurred in hilly terrain near the village of Mamonino, in the direction of the settlement of Insya. According to rescuers, a fellow skier who witnessed the incident was called to help. While skiing, he discovered a man lying motionless. The injured man was conscious and breathing but could neither move nor speak. According to a preliminary version, the skier may have been injured after colliding with a tree while descending from the top of the hill. A complicating factor was the inaccessibility of the location: it is situated at the foot of a hill where ordinary vehicles cannot reach. Rescuers from Zonal Search and Rescue Unit No. 2 of the Search and Rescue Service of the Republic of Tatarstan were promptly dispatched to the scene. They reached the injured person by snowmobile. For careful transportation across the unbroken snow, rescuers used special sleds (pulks). The skier was successfully delivered to the waiting ambulance and handed over to medical personnel for treatment and hospitalization. Rescuers remind people to be cautious when engaging in winter sports outside prepared trails: it is important to control speed, choose a safe route, and, if possible, not ski alone.
