Cuba's foreign minister urged countries around the world to join the demand for Maduro's release.

      Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla said that the United States must immediately release the President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, and also called on the international community to support this demand.

      “Eight days have passed since the brutal kidnapping of the legitimate President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro Moros and his wife Cilia Flores,” he wrote on social network X. He demanded that the US government “end this illegal detention, respect his immunity, stop the judicial and media farce and ensure their life and well-being.”

      Rodríguez Parrilla also indicated that Havana is appealing to the countries of the world to join this demand in the name of “preserving international law, as well as protecting the life, justice and rights of the President of Venezuela and his wife.”

      Nicolás Maduro and his wife were seized by US military forces on the night of January 3 during Operation “Absolute Resolve.” The operation involved the Delta special forces unit and more than 150 aircraft; the helicopter landings were covered by planes and drones.
