In Nurlat they honored the memory of the Hero of Socialist Labour Zakiya Timirzyanova.

      In honor of the 100th anniversary of the legendary oil worker, a solemn laying of flowers and a volleyball tournament with the participation of Hero of Russia Ruslan Garifullin were held.

      Today in Nurlat commemorative events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Hero of Socialist Labour Zakiy Timirzyanovich Timirzyanov took place. Hero of Russia Ruslan Garifullin, who had come specially for the celebrations, took part in them. The events began on the Alley of Glory, where a bust of the Hero is installed. Under the leadership of the head of Nurlat District Damir Ishkineev, Nurlat residents laid flowers at the memorial, paying deep respect to the feat of their fellow countryman.

      Then the celebration moved to the Marat Khuzin Sports Complex, where the Zakiy Timirzyanov memorial volleyball tournament was held.

      The ceremonial opening began with the anthem of the All for Victory. Nurlat foundation — "Alga," performed by the famous republic artist and fellow countryman Rafis Kalimullin.

      The participants of the tournament were greeted by the head of Nurlat District Damir Azatovich.

      "Zakiy Timirzyanovich was a man of iron will, strong spirit, a true driller. He received the Star of the Hero of Socialist Labour deservedly for his valiant labor. He drilled wells in the postwar years when the country desperately needed oil. His work, like that of all oil workers of that generation, helped to rebuild the country after the war. Today's tournament is a tribute to our Hero. The memory of him lives in the hearts of Nurlat residents and all oil workers," noted Damir Azatovich.

      Hero of Russia Ruslan Garifullin also addressed those gathered. He thanked the residents of Nurlat for their active support of the participants in the special military operation and wished the athletes willpower for victory and success in the tournament.

      The event was organized by the All for Victory. Nurlat foundation, which since April of last year has proudly borne the name of Zakiy Timirzyanov.

      "We proudly bear this name. The tasks set before us by the fighters we carry out with honor and dignity. The 100th anniversary of Zakiy Timirzyanovich is a significant event, and we could not fail to mark his enormous contribution to the development of our republic and the country," said the head of the foundation, chairman of the local public organization of disabled persons and veterans of the war in Afghanistan and other local conflicts Rishat Safiullin.

      The foundation organizes humanitarian trips to the area of the special military operation, actively supports the front and conducts extensive patriotic work among young people and children. As part of the event Rishat Safiullin presented letters of appreciation on behalf of the command of military units to the most active members of the foundation.

      The family of Zakiy Timirzyanov also took part in the celebrations. His daughter, Roza Ziganshina, thanked the organizers for keeping her father's memory alive. It should be noted that the Hero's grandson, Rafael, and his family are active participants in the All for Victory. Nurlat foundation.

      Four teams competed for victory in the volleyball tournament: Legion (NGDU "Nurlatneft"), VBD (combat veterans), Nurlat Gymnasium and Chulpanovo.

      The commemorative events dedicated to the Hero's 100th anniversary do not end here. On January 31 a memorial evening dedicated to the life and labor feat of Hero of Socialist Labour Zakiy Timirzyanov will be held in Nurlat.
