An increase in the consumption of alcoholic products has been recorded in the Republic of Tatarstan, exceeding the nationwide indicators. According to data from the unified interdepartmental information-statistical system, an average of 8.77 liters of pure alcohol per year falls to one resident of the republic. This is about 9% more than the Russian average, which is 8.06 liters.
The situation in the region has worsened over the past year. As of December 2025, the volume of consumption increased by 12.1% compared to the previous period, when the indicator was 7.82 liters per person. When compiling the statistics, not only official sales data of alcoholic products were taken into account, but also medical reporting information, including data on diseases and mortality related to alcohol consumption.
At the national level, the highest volumes of consumption were recorded in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug — more than 19 liters of pure alcohol per person per year. The Jewish Autonomous Oblast and the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug also significantly exceed the average level. The lowest figures are traditionally noted in the regions of the North Caucasus. The minimum consumption was registered in Chechnya, where it is virtually reduced to zero. Low values are also observed in Ingushetia and Dagestan, and moderate ones in several other Caucasian republics. It was previously reported that residents of Tatarstan were the most interested in side jobs during the New Year holiday period.
