According to the press service of the medical institution, the peculiarity of the case is that the patient had previously undergone chemotherapy and open surgery on the abdominal cavity, which significantly complicated the intervention. Despite this, the surgeons successfully removed two-thirds of the stomach and formed a combined anastomosis using a robotic system. Part of the work was done by the device, and part manually. "The surgeons were able to perform the intervention with the help of the robot – as gently and minimally invasively as possible, literally with precision. The operation went smoothly. The patient's condition is good, and she is preparing for the next stage of treatment," the message said. This achievement opens new opportunities for minimally invasive surgery in the republic, the press service noted. Earlier, doctors from the Kazan Federal University University Clinic and the Republican Clinical Oncology Dispensary successfully performed surgery on a patient diagnosed with stomach cancer, who also had critical aortic stenosis.
