How to protect your apartment from scammers: The State Registration Chamber of Tatarstan has updated the guidelines for home buyers.

      At a meeting of the Public Council under the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography (Rosreestr) for the Republic of Tatarstan, existing fraud schemes and protective measures in real estate transactions were discussed, including an updated guide for citizens. During the meeting, acting head of the real estate registration department, Svetlana Potapova, explained in detail the system of rights registration that has been in place in Russia since 1998 and its evolution over 27 years aimed at ensuring the stability of transactions and protecting the rights of property owners. She emphasized that the state registrar conducts a legal examination of documents within the framework of the law but cannot control the further movement of funds between the parties to the transaction, which is often the subject of manipulation by fraudsters. To provide additional protection for citizens, Rosreestr is working on improving legislation and updating informational materials. In response to the increasing cases of fraudulent schemes in housing purchases, the agency has updated a special manual titled "How to Protect Real Estate from Fraudsters." The guide, available on the official Rosreestr website in the "Open Service" section, contains simple instructions on what to pay attention to before a transaction, which documents to request from the seller, how to secure the contract, and how to counter cyber fraud. This information is intended to increase the legal literacy of buyers and reduce risks when making real estate transactions.
