In Kazan, a man was detained for stealing money from someone else's card.

      A 62-year-old resident of Kazan reported to the police department "Azino-2" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia about the loss of his bank card and the unauthorized withdrawals of funds. According to the applicant, more than 6,000 rubles were illegally withdrawn from his account. During operational activities, investigators identified and detained the suspected perpetrator, a 51-year-old man from Kazan. The police found that the man had found someone else's bank card and used it to make purchases in city stores, buying food and other goods within one day. A criminal case has been initiated under paragraph "g" of part 3 of article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — theft committed from a bank account. The police reminded that using funds from a found or stolen bank card is classified as a serious crime. The sanctions of this article provide for punishment of up to six years in prison. Law enforcement officials also recommend that in case of loss of a bank card, one should immediately contact the bank to block the account to prevent possible illegal transactions.
