According to the publication, on October 19, 2025, two criminals on scooters entered an underground garage in the commune of Aubervilliers near Paris. Their actions were recorded by surveillance cameras. The criminals passed stolen jewelry to each other before hiding it in one of the boxes. However, some of the relics were missing. Over the next few days, the suspects visited the garage, including with an electromagnetic radiation detector, fearing surveillance. On the night of October 22 to 23, they hid their faces upon discovering cameras in the garage and left in a white commercial Citroën vehicle. On October 23 and 25, one of the suspects returned for the scooters and belongings, after which the trail of the jewelry was lost. Investigators do not rule out that the robbers acted on their own initiative rather than by order. This could damage France's image, the newspaper writes. Earlier, Le Parisien reported, citing sources, that one of the suspects confessed: two men with a Slavic accent offered him 15,000 euros for the theft. He allegedly did not know he was robbing the Louvre. The TV channel BFMTV reported that in the commune of Kourneve, police found a hideout with the criminals' equipment. It was set up in a bicycle storage box. There, they discovered assay stones, gold testing flasks, and equipment for jamming radio communications and tracking beacons.
