Today, emergency services in Tatarstan conducted an operation to evacuate two freezing men who found themselves in a difficult situation on the ice of the Kama River. According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan, a distress signal was received on the rescue service line 112 around noon. It was reported that near the village of Sorochi Gory in the Rybnaya Sloboda district, an incident occurred: a 34-year-old and a 38-year-old man were stranded in the middle of the ice due to a sudden breakdown of their vehicle. The nearest shore was about a kilometer away, and the air temperature had significantly dropped, posing a risk of hypothermia. Specialists from the specialized fire and rescue squad No. 3 immediately went to help. They promptly arrived at the scene on their snowmobile, bringing the victims to safety along with the broken vehicle. The victims were examined by doctors, and there is no longer a threat to the health of either man. The incident once again reminded residents of the region about the importance of following safety measures when operating equipment on water bodies in winter.
