In Tatarstan, the situation regarding particularly dangerous animal diseases is stable.
Despite the worsening epizootic situation in several regions of Russia, Tatarstan maintains its status as a safe territory for particularly dangerous and infectious animal diseases. Quarantine has been introduced in neighboring Chuvashia, but control posts on the republic's highways have been strengthened to prevent the import of infected livestock and products. Specialists are working around the clock, and so far, no attempts at illegal imports have been recorded.
The epizootic situation in Russia remains tense. Outbreaks of particularly dangerous and infectious diseases continue to be registered in several regions among both agricultural animals and wildlife. Many livestock and poultry enterprises have implemented restrictive measures to curb the spread of infections. The situation with cattle is particularly alarming, as outbreaks have been recorded in several federal subjects. The main reason for the spread, according to specialists, is the unauthorized movement of animals, feed, and animal products. People who ignore veterinary regulations risk not only their own farms but also the well-being of entire regions.
As of March 2026, restrictive measures have been introduced in neighboring Chuvash Republic. By order of the State Veterinary Service of Chuvashia, a quarantine has been established prohibiting the export and import of animals, feed, and livestock products without special permission. For Tatarstan, which borders an unsafe territory, this is a signal to enhance vigilance.
The republic is protected by employees of the Veterinary Management, the Rosselkhoznadzor, and the State Traffic Inspectorate. Joint patrols have been organized on key highways – at the 777th kilometer of the M-7 "Volga" highway (stationary DPS post "Malinovka") and at the 1039th kilometer of the Moscow–Ufa highway (DPS post "Tula-1"). In addition, raid checks are being conducted at mobile police posts.
Fortunately, no attempts to import animals, meat, and other products from unsafe regions have been recorded so far. All movements of livestock and animal products are carried out only with the presence of veterinary accompanying documents, issued strictly according to the rules established by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia order dated December 13, 2022, No. 862. In case of violations, information is immediately forwarded to the Rosselkhoznadzor for strict measures to be taken.
Thanks to such coordinated efforts, the Republic of Tatarstan remains safe from particularly dangerous and infectious animal diseases. However, it is too early to relax. Livestock and poultry owners are reminded of the need to strictly adhere to veterinary regulations, not to buy animals without documents, and to immediately report any suspicious cases of disease. Only through joint efforts can the well-being of the region be preserved and catastrophic consequences avoided.
