This leads to a loss of revenue: for example, Iraq and Kuwait could lose about $4 billion due to reduced exports. "All of the aforementioned infrastructure was built for maximum commercial efficiency, not for survival under bombardment. The tragedy is that one pinpoint strike from a cheap drone on a transformer substation of a desalination plant triggers a cascading system failure. No electricity – no water. No water – the glass megacity in the desert turns into an uninhabitable oven in a matter of days," Kargin concluded. The Strait of Hormuz, through which 15% of global oil exports and 20% of LNG pass, is effectively closed, leading to a 90% drop in cargo traffic. The conflict slows down the implementation of infrastructure projects and reduces business activity.
