Hero of the Soviet Union Grigory Larionov: the feat of the pilot and the street in Zainsk

      The name of the Hero of the Soviet Union Grigory Larionov is immortalized in Zainsk. His combat path and contribution to Victory remain an important part of the district's history. The history of the Zainsk district carefully preserves the names of its heroes. One of them is Grigory Fedotovich Larionov — a participant in the Great Patriotic War, awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. A street in Old Zainsk is named in his honor, emphasizing the significance of his feat for his homeland. Grigory Larionov was born on January 27, 1905, in the village of Gulkino in the Zainsk district. From an early age, he chose a military path and received a serious education: he graduated from the Leningrad Artillery School, then the Kharkov Military Aviation School for Observer Pilots, and the Military Air Engineering Academy. During the Great Patriotic War, Larionov served as a navigator of the squadron of the 1st Guards Mine-Torpedo Aviation Regiment of the Baltic Fleet. He participated in the defense of besieged Leningrad, performing the most complex combat tasks in conditions of constant danger. By August 1944, he had completed 193 successful combat sorties. He struck enemy ships, naval bases, ammunition depots, and concentrations of enemy troops. During the war years, Larionov made over 250 sorties, making a significant contribution to the defeat of the enemy and the approach of Victory. After the war, Grigory Fedotovich continued to serve in the Baltic region. In 1955, he retired and moved to Chisinau, where he lived until the end of his days. He passed away in 1968, leaving behind a legacy of courage, resilience, and loyalty to the Motherland. Today, the name of Grigory Larionov continues to live on in Zainsk — in the name of the street and in the hearts of grateful descendants. His life path serves as an example of heroism and dedication to his cause for future generations.
