      A new historical-ecological project will start this spring in Kazan. 80 birdhouses will appear in parks and squares. 12 of them will recreate the facades of lost examples of wooden architecture – the house of Pyatnitsky on Zhukovsky Street and the Mattern estate on Nagornaya Street. "This is a beautiful story conceived by the Directorate of Parks and Squares. This spring, 80 birdhouses will be installed in 21 parks and squares in Kazan, as well as on the territory of the Lenin House Museum and the House Museum of Academicians Arbusov. 62 of them have already been installed. The birdhouses are hung in the Moscow, Kirov, Novo-Savinovsky, Aviastroitelny, Soviet, and Vakhitovsky districts," the organizers of the event told journalists. The original birdhouses closely mimic the facades of ancient wooden houses in Kazan from the late 19th century. They were made by a master from Arsk, Ramil Vildanov. "The residents of Kazan are characterized by their attention to the environment. <…> This form is also interesting – recognition of the place where you live, where you are every day, where you walk with children or stroll with a loved one. Therefore, this is a very important story," said Azat Abzalov, deputy head of the Kazan Executive Committee for social issues. The art director of the Directorate of Parks and Squares of Kazan, Asiya Gizzatullina, added that the ecological agenda is an important direction for the development of the city's parks and squares. "It is important that students from KFU will conduct research on studying the bird population," she noted. Gizzatullina also emphasized the importance of preserving historical heritage and biodiversity.

      "Yesterday we discussed this project with ecologists. They suggested that we install an action camera to observe up close how the birds live," the speaker noted. The initiative is being carried out by the Directorate of Parks and Squares of Kazan under the scientific supervision of KFU.
