      A routine elevator ride turned into an injury for a resident of Kazan in one of the buildings of the residential complex "Legenda." He seemed happy to be alone in the spacious cabin, calmly scrolling through his smartphone. Suddenly, the gadget was knocked from his hands, and he fell to the floor. The elevator plummeted several floors down. The main impact was on his legs.

      At first, the man tried to get up on his own but was too injured. He could barely reach any button in the cabin from the floor. Without getting up, he lay there for some time. When the doors opened, the victim literally crawled out of the elevator onto the landing; he needed urgent medical assistance and hospitalization. A prosecutor's investigation is underway regarding the elevator's collapse with the passenger inside.

      "The supervisory authority will assess the compliance with legislation in the provision of services for the maintenance, repair, and operation of the elevator in this building. If there are grounds, the question of taking appropriate response measures will be considered," the Prosecutor's Office of Tatarstan reported. Simultaneously with this investigation, a criminal case was initiated under the article "provision of services that do not meet safety requirements." "Actions are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the incident. An investigation is ongoing," the Investigative Committee of Tatarstan stated.

      

       Law enforcement and supervisory authorities will have to find an answer to the question of how a practically new and modern elevator could become so faulty that it simply fell down at one moment, along with a person.
