The subcommittee on the preservation of historical memory under the State Council of the Russian Federation held its first meeting.

The subcommittee for the preservation of historical memory, organized within the framework of the Commission of the State Council of the Russian Federation on the direction of "Culture and traditional spiritual and moral values," held its first meeting. Participants discussed issues of regional policy regarding the transmission of historical knowledge in the context of modern challenges facing the country, the press service of the federal State Council reports.

Opening the discussion, the chair of the subcommittee – the governor of the Jewish Autonomous Region, Maria Kostiuk, stated that historical memory not only preserves the facts of the past but also shapes national identity, defines the value orientations of society, and models its future. She pointed out the diversity of regional practices in preserving historical memory. "It is important to analyze and summarize this experience for the subsequent dissemination of the most advanced practices among the regions," Kostiuk is convinced. In her opinion, this task seems particularly relevant in the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, declared by President Vladimir Putin.

The role of traditional spiritual and moral values in forming a unified cultural space was emphasized by the State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Culture of Russia, Zhanna Alexeeva. "Thousands of local history and school museums operate in every region, for which a separate support program has been created, dedicated to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and the special military operation. People bring their family stories there. Thanks to them, we understand that the heroism of modern defenders of the Motherland, their fighting spirit, has grown from our past, from the memory that we carefully preserve and pass down from generation to generation," she expressed confidence.

The Deputy Minister also suggested that regional and municipal cultural institutions actively engage in efforts to immortalize the memory of the victims among the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War.

Participants in the discussion agreed that the work on preserving historical memory should primarily target young people. Nikolai Ovsiienko, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Military Historical Society, pointed out the importance of such work with children and youth from kindergarten. He also mentioned the need for careful attention to the formation of regional history textbooks, which should contribute to strengthening the unity of the country.

Elena Malysheva, head of the ANO "National Center for Historical Memory under the President of Russia" and a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, spoke about the relevance of creating a state strategy for forming a culture of historical memory. "Historical memory today is the foundation of worldview, countering cognitive influence," she is convinced.

Malysheva proposed to create a map of priorities for historical memory in the regions, as well as a platform with unified national content that would become a "golden fund" for exchanging information and experience.

Andrei Polosin, Vice-Rector of RANEPA, emphasized the problem of understanding "small homeland," nation, and narratives of historical memory and ensuring state integrity. In his opinion, it is necessary to form unified meanings related to the preservation of historical memory, as well as to engage in training and retraining personnel for this sphere.

Grigory Kuranov, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Far Eastern Federal District, reported on the experience of applying modern high-efficiency technologies in the system of patriotic education as a tool for preserving historical memory. He also called for a deeper analysis of creative products, including those produced with the support of state institutions, for compliance with the traditional spiritual and moral values of the country.

"If we talk about historical memory, we must preserve it, while it is important to pass it on correctly. We have many tools for this," supported him Arthur Orlov, chairman of the board of the "Movement of the First."

The modern challenges facing small museums during the special operation were reviewed by Viktor Shalay, director of the State United Museum-Reserve of the History of the Far East named after V.K. Arsenyev. According to him, such institutions not only engage in preserving historical memory but also support the relatives of fallen servicemen.
