      In the Zainsky district, a large-scale effort to preserve historical heritage is coming to an end — the restoration of the 19th-century wooden church in the village of Verkhny Bagrayazh. Already in May 2026, residents and guests of the district will be able to see the updated church, which has long needed restoration. The progress of the work was reported by Ivan Gushchin, chairman of the Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites. According to him, specialists have carried out a significant volume of restoration activities aimed at preserving the authentic appearance of the building.

      During the work, the main frame of the church was completely restored, and the roof and floor structures were updated. Special attention was paid to historical details: craftsmen recreated the domes, restored the doors and windows, as well as the decorative metal grilles, preserving their original appearance.

      The restoration of the bell tower and the church part is in the final stage. At the same time, work is underway to recreate the cornice elements, which allows the external appearance of the building to be brought as close as possible to the historical original.

      For comfortable use in modern conditions, electric heating has been installed in the church, and the adjacent territory is being improved. This will make the site not only a cultural monument but also a functioning attraction for residents and tourists.

      In the near future, it is planned to complete the interior finishing, install the iconostasis, mount the fencing, and carry out landscaping of the area.

      The opening of the renovated church will be a significant event for the Zainsky district and the entire republic. The restoration of architectural monuments contributes to the preservation of historical memory and the development of domestic tourism.
