The Russian government will ban gasoline exports for producers starting April 1.
Russia will impose a ban on gasoline exports for producers starting April 1, 2026. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing a government statement following a meeting. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak instructed the Ministry of Energy to prepare a draft resolution on the introduction of restrictions. The measure is aimed at stabilizing prices and ensuring priority supply to the domestic market. Currently, the ban on gasoline exports applies only to non-producers. For large oil companies, the restrictions were lifted in January. According to Novak, oil companies confirmed the availability of sufficient gasoline and diesel fuel reserves, as well as high refinery utilization to meet domestic demand. Recall that at the end of 2025, authorities extended the ban on gasoline exports abroad for all exporters until March, as well as an embargo on diesel fuel exports for non-producers – traders, oil depots, and organizations with processing capacities of less than one million tons of fuel per year.
