The competitions within the framework of the Spartakiad of the Peoples of Russia among the strongest athletes will take place in the country from August 1 to September 30. The tournament itself has the status of a key event in the domestic selection for the 2028 Olympic Games, which will be held in Los Angeles. The program of the all-Russian Spartakiad includes 43 sports, and more than 12,000 participants will take part. Tatarstan will be one of seven regions where the main competitions will take place. According to the approved calendar, Kazan will host tournaments in eight sports: rugby-7, skateboarding, equestrian sports, women's football, kayaking and canoeing, rowing, artistic gymnastics, and shooting. Against the backdrop of preparations for the competitions, a working group from the Federal Directorate of Sports Events arrived in the capital of Tatarstan. The visit program includes inspecting the facilities and infrastructure of the tournament, as well as a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Sports of the Republic. As noted by the head of the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan, Vladimir Leonov, the republic has extensive experience in hosting and organizing sports competitions. At the same time, as clarified by "Tatar-inform," the head of the Federal Directorate of Sports Events, Yuri Yermoshkin, stated that the preparation process in Tatarstan is proceeding as planned. The Spartakiad is held based on the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place in Yekaterinburg, and the closing ceremony in Ufa. Competitions in Tatarstan will take place from July 31 to September 14, 2026. It was previously reported that Tatarstan has become the most popular destination for the May holidays in Russia.
