A Kazan resident lost 4 million rubles by giving scammers the "code to replace the intercom."
A resident of Kazan lost 4 million rubles after giving scammers a code that supposedly came for the replacement of an intercom. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, an unknown person called the man and said that the intercoms in his house were to be replaced. To receive a key, he needed to dictate a code from an SMS, and the resident of Kazan provided it to the scammers. After that, the man received a call allegedly from law enforcement, informing him that his profile on the State Services website had been hacked and that the scammers were trying to seize his savings. To save his funds, he needed to transfer them to a safe account. Believing the scammers, the resident of Kazan transferred about 4 million rubles to unknown accounts. Realizing he had been deceived, the man contacted the police. A criminal case has been initiated. "There are no 'safe accounts.' If someone tells you that your money is in danger and needs to be transferred to a reserve or special account – it is a scam. End the conversation," the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan reminded.
