In Tatarstan, pensioners whose income is below the subsistence minimum are assigned a social supplement.

      Pensioners in Tatarstan who do not work receive a social supplement if their monthly income is below the subsistence minimum for pensioners. This year, the minimum in the region is set at 13,844 rubles. Currently, the average amount of the supplement in Tatarstan is 3,611 rubles, as reported by the press service of the Social Fund of Russia (SFR) for Tatarstan. According to the press service, 1,099,855 residents of Tatarstan receive pensions from the Social Fund of Russia. Since the beginning of 2024, pension indexing has been carried out: social pensions were increased by 6.8% from April 1, and insurance pensions, for both working and non-working individuals, were increased by 7.6% from January 1. The average size of the old-age insurance pension in the republic is now 26,550 rubles. When considering the right to a supplement, all payments assigned to the pensioner are taken into account: pension, lump-sum payments from pension savings, monthly cash payments, and the cost of a set of social services, as well as various forms of social support in monetary terms, including compensation for utilities, telephone, and transport. Benefits provided only in kind are not taken into account. If the total income of the pensioner is below the regional subsistence minimum, the SFR automatically assigns the supplement. "If the amount of the indexation of payments is less than in the previous year, when calculating the social supplement, the indexation payment is brought up to the level of the previous year. The indexed amounts of the pension and monthly cash payment are paid above the subsistence minimum for pensioners. If these amounts are less than the corresponding amounts paid before the indexation, their difference is included in the amount of the social supplement and paid until the date of the next indexation," explained the head of the SFR for Tatarstan, Eduard Vafin.
