      At a meeting of the State Council of Tatarstan, deputy from the CPRF faction Albert Yagudin proposed to move the time in the republic further away from Moscow - two hours ahead, and to hold a whole referendum on this issue.

      According to preliminary estimates by the initiative's authors, such a time change would allow Tatarstan to save up to 140 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year due to more rational use of daylight. According to Yagudin, the change of time zone would also have a positive effect on the health of the population - stress would decrease due to the mismatch between biological rhythms and social schedules.

      Let us remind you that two years ago this issue was already raised, but the change was rejected due to Tatarstan's deep economic ties with Moscow.
