A young chess player from Tatarstan became the world champion in blitz.
Mikhail Shishov, a student of the Republican School of Chess, Checkers, and Go named after R.G. Nezhmetdinov, successfully performed at the World Chess Championship held in the Serbian city of Vrnjačka Banja. About 450 chess players from 40 countries participated in the tournament. Shishov won medals in all three disciplines: he became the world champion in blitz, took second place in rapid, and received bronze in solving blitz chess compositions. Based on the results, he became one of the main triumphs of the competition, confirming his high level of training. With the participation of Mikhail Shishov and Arkhip Morozov, the team Russia 1 took first place in the team tournament. The school noted the athlete's achievement, emphasizing the contribution of his coaches Ruslan Bitkinin and Leonid Yaros, as well as the support of his family and team. They added that they expect further successes from the chess player. Other students of the school also showed worthy results at the World Championship. Arkhip Morozov, as part of the team Russia 1, became the winner of the team tournament, took seventh place in blitz, and 13th in rapid. Tikhon Larionov placed 20th in blitz and 11th in rapid. Musa Zakirov took 19th place in blitz and 21st in rapid.
