A memorial rally dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster took place in Lenin Park. The event was held at the memorial sign "To the Liquidators of the Consequences of the Tragedy at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant" — a symbol of eternal memory and gratitude to those who, at the cost of their own health and lives, prevented a global catastrophe. Veterans-liquidators, their family members, local administration representatives, clergy, youth army members, school students, and university students gathered at the monument to pay tribute to the hero-liquidators and remember those whose lives were taken by the Chernobyl disaster. Currently, there are 12 participants in the liquidation of technological disasters living in the Menzelinsk district. At the event, the participants in the liquidation of the Chernobyl disaster were awarded medals from the "Chernobyl" Union of Russia "40 Years Since the Catastrophe at Chernobyl," as well as gifts on behalf of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the head of the Menzelinsk district Aidar Salakhov.
The participants of the rally honored the memory of the heroes and victims of Chernobyl with a moment of silence, after which they laid flowers at the memorial sign "To the Liquidators of the Consequences of the Tragedy at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant."
