"The Pokrovsky church was built in 1884 with funds from merchant of the 1st guild Pavel Vasilyevich Shchetinkin. In 1936, the church was closed. After its closure, a school was located in the church building. During this period, the building was reconstructed – partitions and inter-floor ceilings were made inside. Then the school moved to a new building, and the ancient church remained in desolation for many years. The bell tower, refectory, narthex, and southern part of the wall were destroyed. The territory of the church overgrew with trees and weeds, and the church itself was in an emergency state for a long time. However, the Risen Lord has resurrected our church, and it began to come back to life in time for the Easter holiday. By the blessing of the bishop, work began in the church. The forest was cleared, and the debris was removed. Icons were placed inside, a temporary altar and a sacrificial table were installed, so we joyfully held the first Easter service in almost a century," commented priest Yaroslav Petrushchenkov. The prayers and hymns of the Liturgy were sung in Church Slavonic and Kryashen languages. At the end, an Easter procession was held around the church. Then the villagers and guests continued to socialize over a festive meal.

      Let us remind you that on January 4, 2026, the half-destroyed church was visited by Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan and Tatarstan. The bishop was accompanied by the head of the Pestrechinsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rais Suleymanov.
