In Tatarstan, they warned about the consequences for children who make false reports of terrorist attacks.
Phone bullies and teenagers who decide to disrupt an exam risk not only fines but also real prison sentences — up to ten years. In Tatarstan, officials reminded residents: a false call or message about a planned terrorist act is not a harmless prank, but a serious criminal offense. This clarification was provided by the Anti-Terrorism Commission of the republic. Such an offense can be committed not only by phone. As noted by the head of the agency's office, Ildus Garaev, any form falls under the law — an oral call, a message in a messenger, or even a note. Article 207 of the Criminal Code comes into effect at the age of 14. The consequences for minors who decide to joke can be extremely serious.
What are the consequences for the offender? If it is a regular false message, the fine can reach up to 500,000 rubles. An alternative is a restriction of freedom for three years. When the message concerns schools, hospitals, train stations, or other social facilities, and if it leads to significant material losses, the punishment is intensified: up to 700,000 rubles in fines or imprisonment for a term of three to five years.
A separate category is made for those who wanted to destabilize the work of government institutions. Such individuals face up to eight years in prison. The most severe option is if someone dies or other serious consequences occur due to the false message. In this case, the maximum sentence reaches ten years of imprisonment. And that’s not all. Regardless of the type of punishment, the guilty party will be required to compensate for all damages caused by their "joke."
Why is this important for parents? The Anti-Terrorism Commission is sounding the alarm: children and teenagers are increasingly being drawn into such crimes. Some act out of hooligan motives — for example, wanting to disrupt a boring lesson or postpone a test. Others become victims of manipulation. As Ildus Garaev explained, mass calls to schools and shopping centers with false bomb threats are often organized by phone scammers from unfriendly countries. Teenagers, falling for their tricks, often do not even realize the responsibility they are taking on. "They do not understand that they will face serious punishment," emphasized the commission representative.
Therefore, it is important to remember that one call or message for fun can turn into a multi-thousand ruble fine for the family or a real prison sentence for the "joker" themselves. And the age of 14 will not save them from responsibility.
