According to Alexander Lapin, both of his grandfathers contributed to the fight against fascism. His maternal grandfather, a native of the village of Kirillovka in the Vysokogorsky district, went to the front in the first days of the war. He served as an artilleryman and heroically died in December 1941 during the defense of Leningrad, fulfilling his military duty until the end. His paternal grandfather fought from 1941 to 1943, received a serious injury near Stalingrad, and was demobilized due to health reasons. After treatment, he continued to contribute to the common cause by working in the rear and bringing closer the long-awaited day of Victory. The Colonel General drew a parallel between past events and the present. He noted that today, Russian servicemen, like their ancestors, defend the sovereignty and security of the country. "Their feat is comparable to the feat of the front-line soldiers of the Great Patriotic War." Alexander Lapin also noted that the special military operation has become a factor in the consolidation of Russian society, similar to how it was during the war years. He expressed gratitude to both veterans and participants of the special military operation, as well as to workers of defense enterprises who toil for the common goal. Concluding his speech, the Hero of Russia addressed congratulations to the personnel involved in the special military operation, wishing them strength, confidence, and a swift return home with Victory.
