In Tatarstan, there were 27 fatal accidents at workplaces in the first quarter of this year, according to the republic's Minister of Labor.
Since the beginning of the year, 51 criminal cases have been initiated against enterprise managers due to violations in the field of labor protection. In the first quarter of this year, 63 accidents occurred in the industries of Tatarstan, of which 27 were fatal. This was reported at a press conference by the Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Republic, Elmira Zaripova. According to her, another 36 were serious accidents that led to severe consequences. The number of injury reports corresponds to last year's level: in the first quarter of 2025, there were also 63 accidents in Tatarstan's industries, Zaripova clarified. The most hazardous industries are manufacturing, transportation and storage, and construction. Falls from heights are associated with 56% of accidents. Other common causes include the impact of moving and rotating objects, collapses, and landslides, Zaripova said. Most accidents are linked to preventable factors and human error, the official noted. The causes of injuries include violations of technological processes, attempts by workers to speed up the production cycle, incorrect use of personal protective equipment, and so on. Zaripova added that improper operation of equipment is also allowed in the industries. According to her, since the beginning of the year, as a result of 82 inspections in Tatarstan, 51 criminal cases have been initiated against enterprise managers due to violations in the field of labor protection. Additionally, 156 orders have been issued, and some productions have been forced to suspend operations for up to three months. Recall that in late March and April of this year, incidents occurred at two enterprises in Tatarstan. For instance, at the powder factory in Kazan, as a result of an explosion and fire that occurred on April 14, one man died, and two people were injured. The republic's authorities stated that the cause of the emergency was "of a technogenic nature." As a result of the explosion at "Nizhnekamskneftekhim," which occurred on March 31, 12 people died. The company stated that the cause of the emergency was the ignition of a gas mixture during work to eliminate the consequences of equipment depressurization. Subscribe to our channel on Telegram.
