Russia and the UAE discussed food security in Kazan.
The Russian-Emirati Business Council held a strategic session in Kazan dedicated to cooperation in the agro-industrial complex, logistics, and food trade. This was reported by the council's press service. The event took place at the international economic forum. Participants discussed the transformation of global food markets, the development of sustainable supply chains, new trade and investment mechanisms, as well as the prospects for joint entry of Russia and the UAE into the markets of Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Dmitry Birichevsky, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He emphasized that the active development of relations between the countries has become possible due to the leaders' attention to bilateral cooperation. According to him, further expansion of the partnership requires systematic work and strengthening of economic ties at all levels. Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh, Deputy Minister of Economy and Tourism of the UAE, noted that cooperation in the field of food trade continues to actively develop. The turnover of agro-industrial products is expected to reach 400 million dollars by the end of 2025, an increase of 25 percent compared to the previous year. The UAE is not only a major importer of food in the region but also an important platform for supplying Russian products to other countries in the Islamic world. Al Saleh also highlighted the significance of the agreement between the Russian-Emirati Business Council and the UAE Food Cluster, signed earlier in Abu Dhabi. The participation of major agro-industrial companies and representatives of UAE government structures in the platform creates additional opportunities for business interaction between the two countries. Participants paid attention to the development of the halal industry, the digitalization of trade infrastructure, new financial instruments for the agro-industrial complex, and the creation of joint logistics solutions for supplies to third-country markets. Representatives from companies such as GAP "Resource," "EkoNiva-APK Holding," UK "Vamin Tatarstan," National Pulse Group, the International Center for Halal Standardization and Certification, as well as the UAE Businesswomen's Council participated in the discussion. The Russian-Emirati Business Council promotes the development of international trade, helps Russian businesses enter foreign markets, and attracts investments from the UAE to Russia. Among the council's participants are companies from the oil and gas, energy, transport, IT, tourism, aircraft manufacturing, finance, and retail sectors. In June 2025, A.S. Vinokurov, president of the Marathon investment group, was elected chairman of the Russian-Emirati Business Council. Photo: Russian-Emirati Business Council
