The session "The Women's Factor in Economic Growth: Family, Society, Future" took place at the "Women's Perspective" track as part of the International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum." This was reported by the press service of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan. The discussion involved the head of the women's deputies' association "Märhämät-Miloserdie" Alsu Nabiyeva, the chairwoman of the regional branch of the Union of Women of Russia in Tatarstan and the organization "Women of Tatarstan" Zilya Valeeva, representatives from business, science, and public organizations. The meeting was moderated by Natalia Bondarenko, the deputy chairwoman of the Union of Women of Russia for medical and social issues. Participants discussed the role of women in economic development, their involvement in entrepreneurship and public life, as well as the impact of women's employment on the social sphere and demographics. Special attention was given to examples of balancing career and family life, as well as support measures – from government programs to corporate initiatives. Opening the meeting, Natalia Bondarenko reminded that last year marked the 85th anniversary of the Union of Women of Russia. She noted that the first chairwoman of the organization was twice Hero of the Soviet Union, test pilot Valentina Grizodubova, who remains an example of strength of character and patriotism.
The role of women in business and the development of relations between Russia and Pakistan was discussed by the Minister of Trade and Investment at the Embassy of Pakistan Shabana Mumtaz. She noted that attitudes towards women's participation in management and public life are changing in the country. According to her, women in Pakistan have the right to participate in elections and make decisions at the legislative level, and no less than 17% of seats in the National Assembly of the country are occupied by women. Additionally, there are 32 women's chambers operating in various fields in Pakistan. Zilya Valeeva presented data on women's involvement in the economy of Tatarstan. According to her, women make up 53% of all working residents of the republic. In small and medium-sized businesses, their share reaches 41%, and among individual entrepreneurs – 41.5%. She emphasized that Tatarstan is among the leaders among Russian regions in the growth of women's entrepreneurial activity. Speaking about historical prerequisites, Valeeva noted that the traditions of women's entrepreneurship in Kazan were formed even before the revolution. According to her, widows and daughters of merchants often managed enterprises independently and held leadership positions. She also added that modern women in Tatarstan can both build a career and dedicate themselves to family, and both paths deserve respect. According to Valeeva, many women strive to realize themselves in their profession while remaining mothers and preserving family values.
The chairwoman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Tatarstan and a deputy of the State Council of the Republic Elena Kuzmicheva told journalists that women around the world are united by a desire for peace, the development of the social sphere, and participation in politics. She emphasized that today women work in almost all sectors of the economy and hold leadership positions.
In response to a question about balancing family and career, Kuzmicheva noted that a woman should not have to choose between professional realization and family. According to her, modern women strive to realize themselves as both mothers and specialists. The session also included the participation of the chairwoman of the Association of Business Women of Kazakhstan Gulzat Izbasarova, the chairwoman of the board of directors of the holding company "Siberian Business Union" Anastasia Gorelkina, and the chairwoman of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Manchuria Lin Zhao Xia.
