Specialists from the Akchurin Emergency Hospital in Naberezhnye Chelny performed a unique operation on a patient in critical condition. An 80-year-old man was admitted to the hospital with a myocardial infarction against the background of acute heart failure. Doctors discovered complex calcified lesions in the arteries. They then decided to use rotational atherectomy, intravascular imaging, and ECMO technologies.
But the main point is that the operation was conducted using teleproctoring. This is when experienced surgeons from other clinics assist their colleagues in real-time. Leading specialists from Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, and Ufa consulted the Kazan doctors online. With the help of cameras and special communication, federal experts saw everything through the eyes of local surgeons at each stage.
As a result, the patient was first connected to the ECMO machine, then the hardest plaques were "drilled" and a stent was placed. Six doctors from different cities saved the pensioner by exchanging experiences. The operation was successful.
