More than 3,500 participants of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, who have been discharged from service, live in Tatarstan. This was reported by the Deputy Prime Minister of the republic, Leila Fazleeva. "In the republic, 460 round-the-clock beds have been deployed at four clinics to provide medical assistance to servicemen who have been injured. A separate focus is on rehabilitation. For these purposes, the republic has all the necessary resources," she clarified. According to Fazleeva, about 70% of those who returned from the war have been employed. The head of the Tatarstan branch of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" fund, Guzel Udachina, previously reported that "as of early February," 75% of veterans of the Russian invasion of Ukraine have been employed. It should be noted that starting September 1, a law on quotas for the employment of participants in the Russian invasion of Ukraine will come into effect in the republic. According to the adopted document, for employers in the republic with more than 200 employees, a quota of 1% of the average number of employees is established. How many Tatarstan residents are participating in the war against Ukraine is not reliably known. In February of this year, the head of the Tatarstan branch of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" fund, Guzel Udachina, stated that this is classified information. At the same time, earlier — in mid-July of last year — the head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, stated that about 45,000 Tatarstan residents have gone through or are participating in the war with Ukraine. A few months before that, in March 2025, Minnikhanov announced the numbers of contract soldiers and mobilized individuals from the republic for the war in Ukraine during a meeting with Vladimir Putin — 38,169 people. Tatarstan ranks second in the country overall (after Bashkortostan) in the number of confirmed casualties in the war against Ukraine. According to calculations by "Idel.Realii," at least 8,700 natives of the republic have already died since February 24, 2022. Subscribe to our channel on Telegram.
