The winners of the "City of Patriots" competition were announced in Kazan.

      Today, the winners of the "City of Patriots" competition were awarded at the Kazan Cultural Center "Moscow". This was reported by the press service of the Tatar regional branch of "United Russia". The competition is timed to the declared Year of Military and Labor Valor in Tatarstan and is held as part of the local party project "Heirs of the Fatherland". The event is organized by the Kazan local branch of "United Russia", the party's deputy faction in the Kazan City Duma, and the Kazan Education Department. Students wishing to participate in the competition could submit videos in two nominations. In the "Memory of Generations" nomination, they told about participants of the Great Patriotic War and the special military operation, veterans of combat actions, while in the "Profession of My Family" nomination, they spoke about labor dynasties. The schools themselves competed in the "Project of the Year in Patriotic Education" nomination. All the contestants' works can be seen in the Kazan local branch of "United Russia" group on the social network "VKontakte".

      The award ceremony was attended by Olga Voronova, Deputy Chair of the State Council Committee on Social Policy and Deputy Secretary of the Tatar Regional Organization of the United Russia party, Fanis Nurmukhametov, Deputy of the State Council of Tatarstan, Svetlana Giniatullina, First Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of the regional branch of the party, Tanzilya Rakova, Executive Secretary of the Kazan local branch of "United Russia" and Deputy of the Kazan City Duma, Albina Rafikova, Secretary of the Kazan City Duma, Deputy Head of the "United Russia" deputy faction, deputies of the Kazan City Duma Marcel Sharapov and Sergey Novoselov, Deputy of the Kazan City Duma and participant of the special military operation Eduard Khusnutdinov, veteran of the Great Patriotic War and resident of besieged Leningrad Zinaida Bushueva, Deputy Chair of the Federation of Trade Unions of Tatarstan Marat Gafarov, students and teachers of Kazan schools.

      More than 200 schoolchildren and over 60 Kazan schools participated in the competition, which is being held for the second time. Tanzilya Rakova noted this, stating that such events are very important for educating the new generation. "If these kids do not know the past, do not know the present, what is happening to us, they will not be able to build a beautiful future, to raise the country to an even higher level," she said.

      Rakova also added that the Kazan local branch of "United Russia" pays special attention to working with youth. "In May, many events for children and teenagers are traditionally held. The month is very busy; for example, tomorrow we will complete a series of quizzes dedicated to Victory Day," she clarified.

      Olga Voronova, in turn, noted the activity of the youth, who proposed many initiatives for the people's program of the "United Russia" party concerning schools, cultural centers, and event organization. She assured that all these proposals would be included in the people's program of "United Russia". "And we must be closer to our youth, participate together with them in the socio-political life of society, the country, Kazan, and the republic," added the State Council deputy.

      Elina Azizova, a 10th-grade student from school No. 1, presented a video about her great-grandfather, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, for the "City of Patriots" competition. She was born after his death, but the family cherishes the memory of the veteran. Akhmedzyan Azizov served in the ranks of the 334th Rifle Division of the Red Army, the girl noted.

      School No. 31 presented a video story about the organization of patriotic education. An important component is instilling love for the homeland, small homeland, and native city in children, said the director of the educational institution, Ayrat Gataullin. "Various events and lessons of courage are held almost daily at the school. We send humanitarian aid to the special military operation zone quarterly; for the May holidays, we collected the 10th humanitarian aid," he said, specifying that the institution actively collaborates with the Kazan regiment of the National Guard, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and the Kazan local branch of the "United Russia" party.

      Gataullin noted that recently a quiz organized by the United Russia party took place at the school and that the children really enjoy such events. "This academic year, we are actively involving parents in this matter. Party activists also participate in parent meetings and lessons of courage," he added.

      As a result of the competition, 18 schoolchildren and three schools received awards. Eight Kazan teachers were awarded letters of gratitude from the Mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, for military-patriotic education of the younger generation. A letter of gratitude on behalf of the Secretary of the Kazan local branch of the "United Russia" party, the Mayor of the capital of Tatarstan, was also awarded to the Honored Artist of Tatarstan, television presenter of the "TNV" channel Idel Kiyamov for active participation in the activities of the local branch of "United Russia".
