      In the Kazan Zoo Botanical Garden, the red-listed falcons (balobans) have produced offspring this year. A pair of birds participating in the population recovery program raised three chicks, and another eight are currently developing in an incubator. Some of the eggs were taken for artificial incubation due to the conditions of their habitat—the zoo is located in the city, and for such species, it is important to reduce stress and the risk of losing the clutch. After the chicks hatched, ornithologists hand-fed them literally every couple of hours, gradually adapting them to future life with their parents. When the chicks grew stronger, they were returned to the nest. The adult birds accepted the offspring and began to feed them themselves. Now the grown balobans are being prepared for release into the wild—they will be sent to the territories of the Volga-Kama Nature Reserve and the Kama-Ustinsky District, where they will adapt to their natural environment.
