The semifinal of the melodrama competition "Words and Music" took place in the Old Tatar settlement.

      In Kazan, the melodramatic competition "Words and Music" continues, uniting poetry and music in live spoken word. A total of over 50 applications have been received from amateur poets from across the city. The project is organized by the Headquarters of Public Support for "United Russia" in Tatarstan, the Directorate of Parks and Squares of Kazan, as well as the project's author — actor of immersive performances, radio host, and moderator of the scientific lecture hall "Milmax Science" Timur Akulov (Kulychev). The competition is held for amateur poets from Kazan aged 18 to 60. Participants recite their own poems in Russian or Tatar accompanied by music — a soundtrack or live performance, their own music, or a public domain work. The semifinals took place on the stage in the Old Tatar Sloboda, which has long been a magnet for creative people and a favorite space for the city's leisure activities. Those who advanced were united by their love for poetry. Among them were students, the widow of a SVO fighter, a stand-up comedian, a singer, and the winner of the first "Words and Music" literary competition, poetess Kamila Latypova. Participants read not only lyrical but also deep psychological poems, turned to realistic poetry, and demonstrated high artistry and complete emotional openness. Despite the competitive nature, there was an atmosphere of creative support: the performers were sincere and set on a live dialogue with each audience member. The performances were evaluated by the project's author Timur Akulov, the press secretary of the Public Support Headquarters Aliya Mingazova, and the winner of the very first "Words and Music" competition, poetess Kamila Latypova. As Timur Akulov noted, his task is to show that poetry set to music can sound modern, bright, and professional. "I want to popularize melodrama so that amateur poets come to the stage, unite, and support each other. We see how many talented people are ready to share their creativity, and our goal is to give them this stage," he emphasized.

      The next step on this stage is the final. Following the semifinals, 10 people have advanced to it and will perform on May 30 in the "Wings of the Soviets" park in Kazan. They will continue the fight for the Grand Prix and laureate titles. Winners will receive certificates and prizes. The solemn award ceremony for the winners will take place in June at the Headquarters of Public Support for "United Russia" in RT.
