The cultural center "Stoglav" traditionally organizes tournaments in the ancient games of lapta and kila in Nikolsk. The venue for these events is the round dance glade located behind the village. The strongest and most agile young men gather here — the heirs of ancient Russian heroes. For reference: lapta is a folk team game with a ball and a bat. The game is played on a natural field. The goal of the game is to hit the ball into the field with the bat, run across the field to the opposite side, and return without allowing the opponent to "tag" you with the ball. Points are awarded to the team for each run. Kila is less known in the modern world but is quite spectacular and requires good athletic training. It is a Russian national team contact game with a ball, often referred to as "Russian rugby." While the ball is in the air, it can be caught with the hands; as soon as it touches the ground, it can only be played with the feet.
