The number of adaptive traffic lights in Chelny will increase by five to 46 units.

      This year, five more traffic lights with an adaptive control system will be installed in Naberezhnye Chelny, bringing the total number of such objects to 46. The investments will be made possible thanks to the national project "Infrastructure for Life," reports the Ministry of Transport and Road Management of Tatarstan. "100% of the sections of the main urban roads in the agglomerations are covered by technical means for collecting data on traffic parameters, meteorological monitoring systems have been developed, and existing subsystems have been integrated into a Unified Transport System Management Platform," explained Deputy Minister of Transport Ranis Faizullin regarding the implementation of new traffic lights connected to the automated traffic management system. "This has allowed us to achieve the first level of maturity of intelligent transport systems for the Kazan and Naberezhnye Chelny agglomerations." The program for updating the functionality of traffic light objects under the national project started in 2020. Unlike regular traffic lights, adaptive ones do not operate on a fixed schedule but adjust to pedestrian and vehicle traffic, regulating the duration of the color signals.
