A resident of Chistopol lost about 1 million rubles after a call from "employees of the Pension Fund."
A resident of Chistopol lost about one million rubles after a conversation with telephone scammers posing as employees of the Pension Fund. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, the pensioner was informed about an allegedly unaccounted work experience that could affect the amount of her payments. Later, she received a call from a "representative of the economic security service," who claimed that she had previously communicated with employees of Ukrainian special services. Succumbing to panic, the woman revealed her savings in her bank account to the criminals. Over the course of six days, the scammer continued to "process" the victim, convincing her of the necessity to check her funds. He insisted on handing over her savings to a courier under a receipt, promising to return the money in three days. However, after handing over the funds, the scammer's phone became unavailable. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and a search for the suspects is underway.
